So i decided i wanted to paint marble effect on the bases of my steelheart s champions warband for shadespire. So the first thing to do is find a marble pattern that you like the look of. A center for all things warhammer 40 000. I ll post a pic when i get home. Do a google images search under marble you should find something out there.

I took to twitter asked fellow painters for tutorials and resources and i was not disappointed. Apply glaze lines of 50 50 administratum grey and lahmian medium moving in roughly the same direction across the surface of the base. Ultimately though for painting the marble effect i didn t follow a tutorial. A while ago i posted this how to paint marble on a forum but it was a members only area and thought it may help people.

I couldn t find anything premade that fit exactly what i wanted so i ended up getting some sheets of plasticard cutting them into tiles and then gluing the tiles to the base before painting them. Feel free to look at pictures of actual marble for inspiration but there should be an element of randomness to it. These lines should be roughly 1mm in width and very translucent with some looking slightly thicker than others. The leather piercer works on maximum of 2mm 3mm and sometimes i have to push a metal tip to help the exit of accumulated plasticard d molds are a viable option to make a lot of bases but i suggest to use resin instead of putty.
