Masonry Door Jamb Anchors

At the next course or approximately 72 from the floor lay in another anchor on the hinge and strike jambs.

Identical profile jambs and heads 1 face through 2 face in 1 8 increments are now available kd m g and mk profile. The base anchors have holes pre drilled so you can fasten the frame to the floor. These are welded or screwed into the bottom of both jambs. Wire anchors slide down the jamb throat to be embedded in mortar joints of new masonry construction.

These anchors are often referred to as punch dimple frame anchors. Non standard available upon request at an additional charge. The diagrams below show metal door frame anchors based on the type of framing used. Hollow metal door frames in a masonry wall are installed with the masonry.

6 6 use tapered shims between anchors and wall and spreaders to maintain squareness and alignment of frame and to maintain door opening sizes. Frames are installed after a majority of the studs are in place but before the gypsum wall board has been installed. They are available for either 1 3 8 35 or 1 3 4 44 thick doors. Existing masonry anchors are used at openings where the block walls are already up and waiting for the frame to be installed. Continue laying the block and filling the jambs with mortar evenly up both. Furnished with flat head 8 3 8 x 6 masonry sleeve anchors or flat head 8 3 8 x 5 wood lag screws. 6 4 slide frame into wall opening.

Wire masonry is the most common anchor used at new masonry walls since the anchor can be resized to match the jamb depth of the frame as needed. Again check the frame to be sure it is plumb level and square. Figure 5 the steel stud anchor welded to the back of the jamb is used on custom frames and meets fire rating requirements. Frame is punch and dimpled 4 dimpled holes per jamb 8 per frame.

In new block walls the frame is fastened to the floor at the base anchors and either wire masonry anchors or t anchors are used.

Base anchors come as standard in welded type hollow metal frames.
